late to the party

Look what I bought today:

So, I'm 20 years late. Sue me.

OK, OK. Actually, it's not for me. I already bought one (and a brand-spankin' new Disk System, too) about five or six years ago. Today's Famicom is for my good friend Christian, who is currently hard at work finishing up GameSpy's excellent Famicom Tribute feature that I mentioned in yesterday's update. I'm not gonna tell him about it -- he'll just have to come here to find out.

In other news, don't be surprised if updates start becoming a bit less frequent over the next few weeks. Today kicked off a string of three straight mammoth translation projects at work, which means I'm gonna be pretty much glued to my desk for a good portion of the foreseeable future. The good news is, as a result, you folks in America will have three more games with decent localizations to play early next year! Ho, ho, ho.

Until next time...

Are you at liberty to say what these three games are?

Unfortunately I am not. But perhaps you could ask me again in about five months, around the time I should be able to start hinting at what the first project was. :)

Thanks for asking though!

Any chance you can hook me up with a Famicon as well and just package it with Christians over to the US???

I just have to give it a shot!

i'm jealous. you're lucky enough to find a brand-new famicom. and i couldn't find even a dirty and scratched, broken one.

i need to go to japan, too. =)
maybe i can find good surprises like this one.

Jago -- Hah, sorry, but if I started taking orders, I'd have to hook up about 100 others who've asked me already. :) You're right though, it was at least worth a shot... ;)

Hideki -- They're not very hard to find, actually; you can pick one up at almost any major electronics store that sells videogames. Of course, Nintendo said they'd be halting production later this year, so I'm guessing they'll start becoming harder to find as time goes by.
